WEST LAVINGTON VILLAGE HALL TO CLOSE FOR ESSENTIAL MAINTENANCE
West Lavington Village Hall will have to temporarily close from 1 August for essential maintenance.
The building is showing signs of its age and urgent repairs are necessary to the roof. This means the building will not be available for hiring or for any form of access by users until further notice.
"Regrettably this will mean some activities will not be able to take place and we apologise for the inconvenience this may cause some of our regular users," says Chair of the Village Hall Committee, Lorna Gough. "The Village Hall Manager will be in touch with all of our users – individuals, groups and commercial hirers to let them know this will affect their activities and to keep them up to date with progress."
"Hopefully this closure will not last for too long, but investigatory work is taking place and we will have to await the building consultant's report to evaluate the full extent of work that may be required."
"It may be that some improvements to the Hall can be made at the same time as these essential works, such as improving thermal insulation to make the Hall more energy efficient and to reduce heating costs."
The Artisans' Market taking place on Sunday 31 July will be the last event to be held in the Hall until further notice.
